The fifth board meeting of the year took place on the 1st of November. In this meeting, the union made a new friend in Pelle, one of the student chaplains who came to the meeting to talk about the support they can offer the union’s members. Pelle will act as a contact person to LUNA and our members can talk to him when they for example are struggling with something. The board then approved of a presidium decision to elect Tom Brilioth as a student representative/observer in the external review group for the new 1 year master program in environmental and health protection. The board then had a first discussion initiated by a working group about the Policy for Work Environment that the working group will write. The board also discussed how to elect a representative to the University Electoral College as well as LUNA’s nominations for the LUS pedagogical prize.
The ninth Parliament meeting was held immediately after the previous elective parliament on October 28th. It was a short meeting where the Parliament elected two ballmasters to arrange the 2022 edition of Utopia, Honia Rasul and Sanela Lulic! The Parliament then approved of a board decision and some updates to regulatory documents, including establishing a LUNA Youtube channel in the Guideline for Information Channels.
On the 28th of October, an elective parliament was held to elect the Mentor Committee (FU) for their next term of office. The novisch activities of 2022 will be organized by the re-elected chairperson Caisa Kjellström together with committee members Vendela Gustafsson, Samuel Hjelm, Stina Magndal, Sofia Bjarheim and Daniel Olla. The Parliament put the remaining 4 seats as vacant.
The 7th Parliament meeting on October 7th was the first physical meeting of the year and the first of the autumn semester. In the first part of the meeting, the parliament approved of some board decisions and held by-elections. The parliament decided to elect Samuel Hjelm as a Nomination Committee member, Alex Kuzmin as a Corporate Relations Committee and Information Committee member, Jenny Spiik as a Sports Committee member, Tindra Weichselbraun Alvander as a Faculty Readership Appointments Board alternate representative, Tom Brilioth as a representative to the AF Scholarship Board and Love Olsson as the LUS Nomination Committee alternate representative.
After a break with some well earned fika, the Parliament listened to the previous operational year’s presidium present the operational report, followed by the review from the operational auditors. After this, the Parliament decided to grant discharge to the previous union board. After this review of the past year, the Parliament looked ahead and was informed of the concretization of the current operational plan, after which some questions and discussion followed. Finally, the Parliament decided that the next parliament meeting will be an elective one immediately followed by a regular Parliament meeting on the 28th of October. In the Elective Parliament meeting, the chairperson and members of the Mentor Committee (FU) will be elected for the next term of office.
The third board meeting of the year took place on the 4th of October. In this relatively short board meeting, the board approved of the presidium decision to finally open up the union office and start having regular office hours. The board also discussed the possible establishment of a LUNA Youtube channel. A discussion was held after a request from the student representative in the Science Village Education Group. The board discussed the pros and cons of the LUNA representative focusing on and promoting different subjects in this group. Finally, the board discussed the vacant positions in the union and how to handle trying to fill these vacancies.
In the first Parliament meeting of the semester, on Thursday the 7th of October at 17:15, there will be elections to fill any vacant positions in the union. The meeting will take place in Rodinia, Geocentrum II at Sölvegatan 12. Because there is no functioning nomination committee, there will be no ordinary nomination process with nominations and such. Our office is located in Geocentrum II, come in through the main entrance at Helgonavägen 5, walk past the stairs and to the left of the Pangea lecture hall and you will find us! Come and have a cup of coffee and talk to us about education, study environment or student life!
If you have an urgent/important issue and want to talk to us outside of the office hours, you are of course welcome to do so! Just send us an email or give us a call before to ensure that we are available.
On the 20th of September, the board convened for the second time. The board reviewed and approved its concretization of the operational plan from the previous meeting. There was also a discussion about the union’s election process in regards to the nomination committee having only one member. The board decided that there could be no ordinary nomination process. Candidates will have to come to the Parliament meeting to present themselves and be questioned by the Parliament, in other words free nominations will be used. Candidates are still encouraged to send in their candidacy to the union presidium or the nomination committee to give, but no nominations will be made. The board also decided to elect Love Olsson and Ida Bonnevier Wallstedt as alternate representatives to the LUS elective ting, since the elective ting will be held before the next RK meeting.
On the 1st of September, the union board had its first meeting. In this meeting, the fulltimers gave a report on their work during the summer. Then, the board approved the year’s first application to the special initiative fund, from the Science Choir, and updated the contact information in the crisis management guideline. A significant part of the meeting was spent on planning for the year ahead, first by setting the board’s meeting dates, and then by concretizising the operational plan. Ten different working groups were created within the board, to work with everything from investigating the study environment at the faculty to organising events and updating our regulatory documents. The board members had some pizza to help them get through this very long meeting.
